God Wants Full Custody

There was a church sign that read "God wants full custody, not just weekend visitations."
Yesterday, Bro. Ed Gibson preached for us and used that saying in his message and what a truth it is. It never ceases to amaze me how people can say they love God with ALL their heart yet they do not show they Him enough love to even come back to His house on Sunday night!
We are lacking, today, believers who will be totally committed to God. Some say, "People are just not committed anymore." I don't know that I believe that statement. I submit to you that people are very much committed today....they are just committed to the wrong things!
The Bible says in Matthew 15:8 "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me."
If that doesn't describe the day in which we live, I do not know what does.
The Bible also says in Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
Folks, we are to be MORE committed to God and His house the closer we get to the Lord's coming. Stop giving God your left-overs. Stop only giving Him weekend visitations. He wants FULL CUSTODY!

Beginning At Jerusalem

This month has been a month of focusing on missions, particularly "Reaching the Unreached." The apostle Paul said in Rom 15:20, "Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named..."
What an awesome task, yet such a fulfilling task that we could partner with God to get the gospel to those who have NEVER heard of Jesus Christ! What? Never heard? We cannot imagine such a thing in America.
Last Sunday I preached on "Beginning At Jerusalem" and my text was Luke 24:47 "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."
While there may be few around Siler City who have NEVER HEARD, there are still MANY who haven't believed. Let's make sure that while we reach across the world, we also go across the street and make Christ known!

"Who is my mother?"

Sometimes we allow GOOD things to keep us from the BEST thing.
In Matt. 12:46-50, Mary and Jesus' brothers came to see Him, but Jesus (knowing their intentions) did not allow even His family to interrupt His ministry.
In fact, He goes so far as to say, 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Jesus did not allow them to hinder His ministry. He had not lost affection for His human family, he was simply putting them in their proper place or priority.
It is sad to see how many are doing just the opposite today. They let every little family get-together keep them from their ministry and service to God.
Thank God for our family. But can we really ask God to bless us when we allow things to come before Him? Just a thought.
