A Sermon In The Snow
Isaiah 1:18 – Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
There is nothing as pure as the driven snow. When it snows, everything looks clean and pure again. A yard may be filled with dead grass and ugly bare spots before a snow, but when it is covered by the snow, even the ugliest parts look clean!
Aren’t you glad that God can take the stain of sin in our life and make the ugly parts of our life clean and pure again? But for the stain of sin to be taken away, three must happen:
1. There Must Be A COMING – “Come now...” The dry-cleaner cannot clean a garment not taken to them. Likewise, God cannot cleanse a sin that has first not been brought to Him. Not only must we come with our sin, but we must “come now.” Don’t delay. Do not wait another moment. Before we can LEAVE clean, we must COME clean!
2. There Must Be A CONFESSING – “..let us reason together, saith the Lord.” God wants us to come to Him in honesty and see what He says about our sin. True confession is agreeing with God about your sin.
3. There Must Be A CLEANSING – “..though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” We can never be pure unless we have been cleansed. Some may apologize, but they have never repented and therefore the stain of their sin has never been removed. The good news is that the Lord has promised in 1 John 1:9 that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
All the good works in the world cannot remove your stain. Come to Christ, today and be made pure as the snow!
